eSIM FAQ

Everything you need to know before buying, installing, and using a Bee-SIM travel eSIM. Tap any question below to open the answer.

What is an eSIM?

An eSIM is a digital SIM profile built into your phone. Instead of inserting a plastic SIM card, you scan a QR code and install the mobile plan directly on your device.

Bee-SIM plans are designed for travel, so you can connect in the destination country without looking for a local shop or waiting for a physical SIM delivery.

Which phones support eSIM?

Most newer iPhones, many Samsung Galaxy models, Google Pixel phones, and selected Huawei, Oppo, Xiaomi, and other flagship devices support eSIM.

Before you buy, check your device settings for options like Add eSIM, Add Mobile Plan, or SIM Manager.

How will I receive my eSIM after purchase?

After a successful order, the eSIM details are sent by email. You will receive the QR code plus activation details needed to install the plan on your device.

If the email does not appear within a few minutes, check spam, promotions, and junk folders.

Should I install the eSIM before I travel?

Yes. We recommend installing the eSIM while you still have a stable internet connection, ideally before departure. That makes activation much easier once you arrive.

After installation, you can keep the line turned off until you are ready to use it.

When does the validity period start?

In most cases, validity starts when the eSIM first connects to a supported network in the destination country, not when you buy it. Still, install instructions should always be followed carefully and the plan should not be activated early unless you are ready to use it.

Do I need Wi-Fi or internet to install an eSIM?

Yes. Installing an eSIM profile usually requires an active internet connection. Wi-Fi is the safest option during setup.

Can I keep my physical SIM and use Bee-SIM for data?

Yes. Most eSIM-compatible phones support dual SIM operation. That means you can keep your physical SIM for calls or OTP messages and use the Bee-SIM eSIM for mobile data.

To avoid roaming charges, disable data roaming on your home SIM and set Bee-SIM as the mobile data line.

Does the eSIM include calls and SMS?

Most travel eSIMs are data-only unless the product explicitly says otherwise. You can still use WhatsApp, Telegram, FaceTime, Messenger, and other internet-based apps for communication.

Can I share hotspot with other devices?

In many cases yes, but hotspot availability depends on the network and the exact plan. If hotspot is important for your trip, it is best to assume reasonable use and avoid heavy tethering unless the product or network clearly supports it.

How do I install the eSIM on Android?
  1. Open Settings.
  2. Go to Connections, Network & Internet, or SIM Manager.
  3. Tap Add eSIM, Add Mobile Plan, or a similar option.
  4. Choose to scan the QR code.
  5. Complete the prompts and enable the eSIM for mobile data when needed.
What should I do after landing if the internet does not work?
  1. Make sure the Bee-SIM line is enabled.
  2. Set Bee-SIM as the data SIM.
  3. Enable data roaming for the Bee-SIM line if the plan requires it.
  4. Turn airplane mode on and off once.
  5. Restart the phone if needed.
  6. Check APN settings if instructions were provided.
Do I need to change APN settings?

Many devices configure APN automatically. If mobile data does not start, use the APN value from your delivery email or installation instructions and save it exactly as shown.

Can I move the eSIM to another phone later?

Usually no. Most travel eSIMs are intended for one installation on one device. Deleting the eSIM from your phone can make it impossible to reinstall, so only remove it when the trip is finished and you no longer need it.

Can I top up or extend my plan?

That depends on the specific product and provider. Some plans are one-time only, while others can be renewed or topped up. If you expect to need more data, check the product details or contact support before buying.

What if the QR code does not scan?

Increase screen brightness, clean the camera lens, and try again. If scanning still fails, many devices allow manual entry of the SM-DP+ address and activation code if those details are provided in the email.

Can I use the eSIM immediately after installation?

Yes, once installed and enabled for mobile data, the eSIM can be used as soon as it connects to a supported network and the plan is activated.

How fast is the connection?

Speed depends on local network coverage, congestion, device capability, and the destination. In good coverage areas you can expect normal 4G or 5G performance where supported, but speeds are never guaranteed.

What happens if I delete the eSIM?

Do not delete the eSIM unless your trip is finished. In many cases, once removed, it cannot be recovered or installed again.

Do you offer refunds?

Because eSIM products are digital and can be activated quickly, refunds are generally limited once delivery or activation has happened. If you have a genuine technical issue and have not used the plan, contact support with your order number and device details.

How can I contact support?

You can use the Chat with us option on the site or email hi@bee-sim.com. For faster help, include your order number, destination country, phone model, and a screenshot of the problem.
